HAMPSTEAD — The Hampstead Lions Club will once again sell luminaries. The community-wide luminary event will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 24. Luminaries can be purchased for any occasion.
The cost of the kit is $20 and includes 10 candles and 10 flame retardant bags. Proceeds benefit local charities.

Register for Turkey Trot
HAMPSTEAD — Registration is now open for Hampstead Recreation’s annual Turkey Trot.
Online registration will be open until 10 a.m. on Nov. 27.
The Nov. 28 5K run/walk begins at 8:30 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church, 26 Emerson Ave. There is a $23 entry fee for adults and an $18 entry fee for children ages 5 to 17, and seniors 62 and older.
Runners and walkers can register the day of the race between 7 and 8 a.m. but there is a $5 upcharge.
Racers will find two water stations along the race route on Emerson Avenue and at the corner of Sawyer and Randall streets. Animals are welcome but must be leashed and well-behaved.

Christmas fair in Hampstead
HAMPSTEAD — The St. Anne Parish Christmas Fair is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at 26 Emerson Ave.
Check out the selection of handmade themed gift baskets, an assortment of freshly made baked goods, a sparkling selection of vintage jewelry and treasures, an array of items to bid on in the Silent Auction, a number of handmade crafts and other Christmas items, a gift cards raffle, and a raffle for an assortment of wines and spirits.
Raffles, including the spirits and baskets, will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Cover needed for town report
ATKINSON — The Town of Atkinson is seeking submissions for the cover of this year’s town report.
Residents may submit high-quality photographs, paintings, collages, etc. of either known/recognizable locations in Atkinson or images that you believe represent Atkinson.
Submissions for consideration should be emailed to AsstTownAdmin@atkinson-nh.gov and state that you are giving them permission to use the image.
The chosen winner(s) will be recognized in the town report for their submission.
Deadline to submit is Friday, Dec. 13.
Toys for Tots in Newton
NEWTON — Newton Fire and Rescue will partner with the United States Marine Corps for their 9th annual Toys for Tots Campaign on Sunday, Dec. 8.
Please drop off your unwrapped toys from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Fire Station, 8 Merrimac Road, or Newton Town Hall during regular business hours.
Input needed on new station

Senior citizens holiday tea
PLAISTOW — Timberlane Middle School, in conjunction with its PTSA, will sponsor the school’s 45th annual Senior Citizens Holiday Tea from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, in the school cafeteria, 44 Greenough Road.
This popular event welcomes senior citizens from local communities, whether they have family in the middle school or not, to join in a holiday celebration. It’s a great way to kick off the holiday season. The festivities include entertainment by members of the school music community in a festive atmosphere.
Parents and students work together to make this a wonderful event. Light refreshments will be served.
Sponsor wreath at cemetery
ATKINSON — For the last six years, the Atkinson Veterans Club has supported the nationwide Wreaths Across America program. By participating we remember each veteran buried in the Atkinson Cemetery.
Wreath purchases help place a veterans wreath on each of the 355 veterans buried here who served their country. Subscriptions are $17 each and may be dedicated to an Atkinson Veteran or in the name of a veteran buried elsewhere.

Weekly ‘45s’ in Hampstead
HAMPSTEAD — Fans of the card game “45s” are welcome to come test their skills from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, at Hampstead Congregational Church, 61 Main St.
Players are promised an evening with lots of great friends. There is no fee to join. Snacks and water are available each week.
Games will continue through May 27, 2025.
The game of 45s is most well-known in the Merrimack Valley of Massachusetts and has yet to gain attention in other parts of the country.
