PLAISTOW — Plaistow Recreation is offering a festive lineup of events for the holidays.
A Giving Tree will be located in the lobby of Plaistow Town Hall from Nov. 20 to Dec. 5. If you’d like to help brighten the holiday season for a local senior citizen, please stop by and pick up a tag. All gifts must be returned to the Recreation Department by Dec. 5. Seniors are invited to a wreath making workshop from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the Vic Geary Center, Greenough Road. The cost is $10 for a 10-inch wreath or $15 for a 14-inch wreath. Plaistow’s annual tree lighting will take place at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, on the Town Green. Santa will arrive with Plaistow Fire Department in a festive convoy to light up the tree. Once the lights sparkle, join in for caroling, holiday music, and a chance to take a photo with Santa.
Bring the magic of the season to life with the Letters to Santa program. Stop by the Town Hall gazebo and drop off your letter to Santa. No postage required. Letters will be collected and sent to the North Pole every few days between Dec. 1 and Dec. 19. For more details, email recreation@plaistow.com.
Plaistow Recreation is creating a Holiday Lights Map to feature the town’s most festive outdoor displays. If you’d like your home to be included, email recreation@plaistow.com by Dec. 11.
Maps will be posted on social media by Dec. 12, with printed copies at the Town Hall Annex and Plaistow Library. Plus, all participants will be entered into a raffle to win a $25 Market Basket gift card, with the winner announced on Dec. 16. This is your chance to help light up Plaistow for the holidays.
Register today for Plaistow Elder Affairs Senior Holiday Tea from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, in the Nelson Room at the Plaistow Library, 85 Main St.
Participants will gather for a light lunch filled with great conversations and entertainment. Space in the Nelson room is limited and registration is open exclusively for Plaistow residents until Dec. 1. Lace up your skates and grab your mittens. Plaistow Recreation is heading to the Veterans Memorial Ice Rink from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 137 Monument St., Haverhill.
