Danvers High’s Georgia Prouty almost always lets her play speak for itself. The honors and accolades that continue to come her way certainly speak for themselves, too.
A senior midfielder, Prouty was selected as a United Soccer Coaches Association All-American at the Eastern Massachusetts Girls Soccer Association’s annual meeting on Monday afternoon. She is third player in Falcon program history to earn the prestigious honor, alongside Arianna Bezanson (2020-21) and Corey Persson (2009).
“It’s based on the number of coaches in your state that are members, so Massachusetts will get two, or maybe three. So it’s a highly competitive, very selective honor,” said longtime Danvers girls soccer coach Jimmy Hinchion. “It’s hard to get and it means a lot.”
Prouty was also one of a dozen All-New England honorees in addition to being voted Massachusetts Division 3 Player of the Year.
A future Boston University Terrier, Prouty netted her fifth hat trick of the season last Friday when the No. 7 seeded Falcons (14-3-3) defeated Newburyport, 3-1, at home to advance to the Division 3 state quarterfinals for the second time in four seasons. Danvers travels to second seeded Medfield (15-3-2) Wednesday for a 4:45 p.m. kickoff.
“Georgia loves to be challenged and works towards rising to each of those challenges,” Hinchion said of Prouty, who has 28 goals this season and 81 in her four-year DHS varsity career. “She’s got the hardest, most accurate shot of anyone I’ve coached in 26 years. She can hit it on a rope from 40 yards out or make a 50-yard run to beat multiple defenders at a time.”
Prouty also has 63 career assists, breaking Becky Landers’ 15-year-old Danvers High record in that category earlier this season. Her 144 career points are currently the second-most ever scored by a Falcons girls soccer player … and she has at least one more game to go.
“She’s a top-level athlete with breakaway speed, lighting quickness and amazing drive,” Hinchion said. “On top of that, Georgia’s one of the sweetest kids we’ve ever had. She loves her teammates and she loves her team.”
