CUMBERLAND — The driver of a tractor-trailer escaped injuries Tuesday when his rig traveled out of control and overturned on eastbound Interstate 68 in the area of the 72-mile marker, according to the Allegany County Department of Emergency Services.
Orleans Volunteer Fire Department controlled the scene following the 8:24 a.m. crash that kept two lanes of the highway closed nearly two hours into the emergency response.
The rig was hauling a load of metal when it traveled out of control and overturned, according to Roger Bennett, acting director of the Department of Emergency Services.
Maryland State Police investigated at the scene where a DES ambulance also responded upon alert by the Allegany County 911 emergency center.
