Open Studios and More returns
More than 80 artists are taking part in this year’s Open Studios and More tour on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at studios across the city. As part of the Open Studio and More event across the city, the Whittier Home is presenting a “Whittier Home Poem-a-thon” on Sunday, Nov. 10, from noon to 2 p.m. in the Whittier Home, at 86 Friend St. Stop by the Whittier Home on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. when Susan Spellman will be giving a live demonstration of painting pictures inside teacups.
Support local educators
The 2024 Newburyport Education Foundation’s Lighthouse Auction takes place Saturday, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at Newburyport City Hall. The auction is NEF’s largest event of the year typically raising over $100,000 that directly goes to Newburyport Public Schools. Feeling fresh
Visit the Newburyport Farmers’ Market at The Tannery Marketplace before it ends for the season. The market, which runs Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., will have many of the community favorite farms from past years plus plenty of new booths to explore. Be sure to stick around for live music and a chance to chat with those who put food on the table.
Around and around
Head on over to the Broadway Loop in Salisbury on Saturday and Sunday for carousel rides all afternoon. While there make sure to pick up some pizza and walk along Salisbury Beach. The recently restored 115-year-old carousel features dozens of hand-carved and painted horses. Tickets are $4 a ride.
