Registered voters in the town of Bovina approved selling alcoholic beverages at restaurants, taverns and stores Tuesday, Nov. 5.
According to unofficial results posted on the Delaware County Board of Elections website, Bovina residents approved three propositions pertaining to the state Alcohol Beverage Control Law, Article 9, Local Options for Towns. The first local proposition asked residents if they approve of restaurants obtaining licenses in order to sell alcohol. Voters approved the proposition 309 to 123. The second local proposition asked residents if they approve of taverns obtaining licenses in order to sell alcohol. It was approved 299 to 125. The third proposition asked residents if they approve of retail package liquor or wine store license. It was approved 256 to 168.
In the town of Sharon and village of Sharon Springs, voters approved increasing the library budget by $1,650 next year 627 to 214.
Other local propositions were defeated. In New Berlin, voters rejected a proposition to make the town clerk/tax collector position an appointed position instead of an elected position; 337 yes to 738 no. Smithville voters also rejected making the town clerk position an appointed position instead of an elected position; 231, yes to 353, no.
In Chenango County, voters elected Republican Diane M. DiStefano as its new family court judge, according to the unofficial results on the county’s Board of Elections website. She defeated Democratic candidate Lisa A. Natoli 13,658 to 7,463.
