The American Institute of Architects Alabama Component has awarded Brad Mallette, a licensed architect and founder of AMBL Studios, with the distinguished Young Architect Award during their Honor Awards Ceremony held on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the State Convention in Orange Beach, Alabama.
This recognition highlighted Mallette’s exceptional leadership, service and contributions to the profession and to the growth of architecture within Alabama.
In addition to his architectural practice, Mallette served the community as a member of the Athens Planning Commission and as Design Chair for Athens Main Street, a nonprofit organization dedicated to revitalizing the downtown area in Athens. He is also an active member of the rotary club.
According to AIA Alabama, the Young Architect Award is the highest honor given to a younger member of the organization who has significantly benefited the architectural field and the organization.
Mallette has been a licensed architect since 2018 and he has resided in North Alabama since 2020. His firm, AMBL Studios, has grown from a solo venture into a thriving team of four professionals across three states, with a brick-and-mortar office in downtown Athens.
AMBL Studios has earned local and statewide acclaim for its adaptive reuse projects, many of which include revitalized historic structures in the Athens-Limestone County area. In addition to these projects, AMBL has also contributed to the community’s civic and industrial growth.
“I’m incredibly honored to receive the Young Architect Award from AIA Alabama,” Mallette said. “This recognition is not just a personal milestone, but a testament to the collaborative work of my team at AMBL Studios and the supportive community in Athens and beyond.”
