LOCKPORT — The third of three suspects in a deadly three-day crime spree of robberies and shootings and a homicide in May 2022 has been sentenced to more than two decades behind bars.
Niagara County Court Judge Caroline Wojtaszek handed down a 25-year prison term to Rohmelo K. Lewis, 24, of the Falls, for his guilty pleas to charges of first-degree manslaughter, first-degree robbery and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in a deal with Niagara County prosecutors.
Lewis’ May plea came as he was preparing to face a Niagara County Court jury on a grand jury indictment that had charged him with two counts of second-degree murder, four counts of first-degree robbery, one count of second-degree assault and one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
As part of his plea, Lewis admitted to killing Cortez Galmore, who had recently moved to the Falls, during an attempted robbery on May 3, 2022.
Wojtaszek previously sentenced two of Lewis’ accomplices.
Isaiah J. Christian, 21, of the Falls, previously pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and first-degree robbery and was sentenced by Wojtaszek to 20 years in state Prison. Shawn Bomberry, 20, who was not connected to the death of Galmore, pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted robbery and was sentenced to 2 years in prison.
The robberies and shootings, which largely took place between the early morning hours of May 3 and the early morning hours of May 5, had left Falls residents living in fear.
Lewis had been a person of interest in the shooting death of Galmore, in the 1000 block of Cedar Avenue late on the night of May 4. He had previously been linked to three robberies and shootings in the early morning hours of May 5 and an incident on the night of May 3.
