Dalton Public Schools has announced its decision to move forward with new leadership for the Dalton High School football program as it begins the search for a new head football coach for the 2025-26 season.
Kit Carpenter, who has served the school as both an outstanding player and a long-time coach, will not be returning as head coach next season.
“Dalton Public Schools has made the decision to move forward with new leadership by making a change in the head football coaching position,” said Superintendent Steven Craft. “Kit Carpenter will not be returning for the 2025-26 football season. We appreciate his years of dedication and service to our program. As an outstanding player and long-time coach for Dalton High School, he has contributed greatly to our school community, and we wish him the best in his future pursuits. We extend our thanks to Coach Carpenter and his family for their commitment to Dalton and we will begin the search for our new head coach immediately.”
Dalton Public Schools extends its gratitude to Carpenter and his family for their support and contributions to the Dalton High School community. Their dedication to the students and DHS athletics program over the years has been truly valued and appreciated.
The school system will immediately begin the process of identifying new leadership to guide Dalton High School’s football program into the future.
