MINNEAPOLIS — Dayton Clobes placed 12th, leading Mankato East to a third-place finish at the Class AA boys cross country meet, held Saturday at Les Bolstad Golf Course at the University of Minnesota.
East, which won the last two state championships, scored 109 points. Marshall was the team champion at 73, with Perham next at 81.
Clobes finished in 16:06.7, while teammate Audi Thom placed 23rd in 16:20.2. Andrew Stoltman took 36th in 16:32.3, with Joseph Foley finishing in 41st in 16:34.5. Collin Talle took 47th with a time of 16:36.5.
St. Peter’s Alexander Bur placed 35th in 16:31.7.
Ephraim Staley of Mankato West finished 38th in 16:32.4, and Tyler Kirchoff took 93rd in 17:12.0.
Waseca’s Isaac Feldkamp was 81st in 17:03.9.
In the girls meet, St. Peter placed sixth with 192 points, and Waseca took 10th with 254. St. Paul Highland Park won with 54.
Grace Lewis-Mosher of St. Paul Highland Park was the individual winner in 18:11.8.
For St. Peter, Keira Friedrich placed eighth in 18:39.3, while Lucia Penner took 28th in 19:27.5. Brielle Friedrich was 48th in 19:51.0, followed by Grace Penner at 113th in 21:28.3 and Robin Hibscher in 126th at 21:44.8.
Waseca’s top runner was Ellie Kopischke in 61st in 20:05.4. Other Waseca runners were Stella Omtvedt (68th, 20:14.8), Callie Dufault (72nd, 20:21.8), Maren Schimming (111th, 21:26.0) and Quinn Yoder (121st, 21:37.0).
West’s Lila Adams finished 35th in 19:37.0, and teammate Landree Quint was 37th in 19:39.2.
East’s Lauren Henkels took 43rd in 19:46.4.
Class A
Mankato Loyola/Cleveland/St. Clair had two of the top five runners in the girls competiton. Charlotte Meyer placed second in 18:24.0, and Valerie Quast finished fifth in 19:05.1.
Molly Koester ended up in 120th at 22:10.5, with Kate Daly in 131st in 22:35.0 and Izzy Endres in 104th in 22:59.5.
The Crusaders placed 15th as a team with 254 points. Audrey Brownell of Staples-Motley was the individual winner in 18:17.2. Winona Cotter/Hope won the team championship with 116 points.
Maple River’s Sophia Stencel took sixth, and Paige Gardiner of Sibley East was 12th in 19:31.2.
MaKenzie Westphal of Waterville-Elysian-Morristown/Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton placed 64th in 20:38.9. Le Sueur-Henderson’s Norah Renstrom finished 104th in 21:30.5.
Loyola/Cleveland/St. Clair placed ninth in the boys race with 281 points. Redwood Valley was the team champion with 84 points, and Erik Semling of Cotter/Hope was the individual winner in 15:23.5.
Soren Kelly led the Crusaders with a 20th-place finish in 16:44.9. Sam Vetter finished 45th in 17:04.7, followed by Kyle Zimmerman in 111th in 17:58.9, T.J. Waldron in 131st in 18:23.1 and Mitchell Buboltz in 132nd in 18:25.3.
Sibley East’s Julio Alejandro took 71st in 17:29.8, and teammate Gavin Pomplun was 127th in 18:15.1.
Owen Greisen of LSH placed 116th in 18:06.4, and Charlie Gengler of Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial/Nicollet was 119th in 18:10.8. Maple River’s Caisen Hollerich took 12th in 18:18.4.
