The Delhi volleyball team rallied from a pair of one-set deficits on Thursday to defeat rival on the road Walton in a five-set thriller to win the Midstate Athletic Conference Championship.
Walton jumped out to an early lead by winning the first set 25-15 but Delhi responded with a 25-21 victory in the second set.
The Warriors won the third set 25-20 to put themselves one set away from victory but the Bulldogs responded with a 25-23 win in the fourth set to set up a decisive fifth game that they would win by a score of 15-10 to clinch the league title.
The victory served as a measure of revenge for Delhi, whose only two losses of the season came against Walton in a three-day span on Oct. 9 and 11. Both of those matches also went five sets.
Leading Delhi in the win were Carly Guy with 19 kills and 14 digs, Rebecca Verspoor with 26 assists and 21 digs, Giorgia Dewit with 18 kills and seven aces, Peyton Maney with nine assists and four digs, Alessia Ghersi with 10 digs, Charlotte Menke with 11 digs and three aces and Kalani Clapper with 13 digs.
