A Nashville man just released from state prison found himself back in custody being accused of starting a ruckus at the Waffle House on N. Main St. Oct. 8.
Xavier Lamont Pate, 24, Village Ct., Nashville, is charged with resisting a stop, arrest or search, disorderly conduct and public intoxication, according to Crossville Police Sgt. Keith Sadula’s report.
Around 4 p.m. last Tuesday, police were dispatched to the Waffle House on a report of a disturbance.
Initial reports alleged a man inside the business was throwing chairs, smoking in the restaurant and not allowing customers to leave by lying on their vehicles.
Sadula and Det. Jon Tollett arrived on the scene and reported the man grabbed what appeared to be personal belongings and ran to Tollett’s police unit, and then to Sadula’s patrol car, attempting to gain entry.
After a brief scuffle, the man was taken into custody.
He told police he had just been released from state prison and had been driven to the Crossville bus station by a Morgan County deputy.
While at the 7-Eleven convenience store, he claimed someone gave him “something to smoke” which caused him to get high.
Pate was taken to the Justice Center where he was booked and later released on bond, pending an appearance in General Sessions Court.
