CUMBERLAND — Former Miss America Kellye Cash, the niece of country music legend Johnny Cash, will present a concert of country, gospel and folk music Oct. 18 at Allegany College of Maryland at 7:30 p.m.
The concert is being presented by Wills Creek Performing Arts.
After completing her Miss America duties, Cash launched a career as a Christian music artist, nationally recognized motivational/Christian speaker and actress. She has performed with Johnny Cash, Billy Joel, Vince Gill, Bob Hope’s USO shows and as a soloist with symphony orchestras throughout the country, including the Maryland Symphony Orchestra. She has released four Christian and two country albums.
Some of her many television appearances include “Good Morning America,” “Today,” “The Tonight Show,” “Late Night with David Letterman,” Hollywood Squares and the “700 Club.”
Cash starred in “Always, Patsy Cline” (as Patsy Cline), “Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” (the narrator), “Mama Mia” (Donna), “Ring of Fire,” “Footloose,” “Annie Get Your Gun,” and more.
Joining Cash will be her daughter Tatum Sheppard Filegar, a singer, actress and former Miss Virginia, who is based in Nashville, Tennessee; and, her musical director and accompanist, Steven Cothran.
WCPA’s mission is to increase awareness of and raise funds for dementia research and support services through the production of music, theater and dance programs. A percentage of the proceeds from each production will be donated to Dementia Friends Pennsylvania and Dementia Friendly Pennsylvania, two statewide initiatives of the Jewish Healthcare Foundation in Pittsburgh.
