Danville Lions Club welcomed District Governor Ruthie Wimbley and Past District Governor Moe Wimbley from the Casey Lions Club at a recent meeting.
The Wimbleys informed members of their Lions Club’s impact in Casey, the upcoming annual fall Lions Convention to be held in Champaign October 25 and 26, and the activities of the Lions of Illinois Foundation (LIF). DG Ruthie Wimbley embraces the theme: “A Heart For Service” as she serves her annual term as District Governor. She described some of their service projects, including refurbishing and beautifying a local park.
Work included repairing/refurbishing 120 picnic tables; replacing an old, worn bridge; and painting a pavilion and adding a new roof.
The Casey Club also hosts a community Fish Fry over Labor Day.
Moe Wimbley represented the Lions of Illinois Foundation and thanked Danville Lions for their generous donation of $2,555 this year to support Camp Lions and Diabetes Awareness, among other Foundation initiatives.
