The Vikings are back on top of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference golf world.
For the third time in four years, Salem State won the league championship this past weekend at Ranch Golf Club in Southwick. With a total team score of plus-43, the Vikings topped MCLA by eight strokes and earned an automatic spot at the Division 3 NCAA national championships next May at Midvale Country Club in New York.
Swampscott native Danny DiLisio earned an All-Conference nod after finishing as the runner-up at the championship by shooting 143 with an even par first round and a one over second. Newburyport’s Colin Richmond was also All-MASCAC for the Vikings, finishing fourth with a score of 150.
Salem’s Ethan Doyle was a second team All-MASCAC honoree for finishing in eighth place with a total score of 157.
Rounding out the scorers for Salem State were Patrick Cotter from Melrose (17th place, 163) and Gloucester native Joe Orlando (19th, 163).
