VALDOSTA — “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds,” while not an official motto of the U.S. Postal Service, has long been associated with America’s postal carriers.
It says nothing about hurricanes.
In a news release Saturday, the U.S. Postal Service said it is temporarily suspending postal retail and delivery operations in a number of Georgia post offices due to impacts from Hurricane Helene.
All such operations are suspended until further notice in ZIP Codes beginning with 304, 308 and 309 — all in east-central Georgia — as well as post offices in:
— Adel, Alapaha, Alma and Argyle.
— Baldwin, Barney, Blackshear (2 facilities) and Bristol.
— Carnesville and Cecil.
— Danielsville and Douglas.
— Fargo.
— Hahira, Hoboken and Hortense.
— Kingsland.
— Lakemont.
— Martin, Mershon and Moultrie.
— Nahunta, Nashville and Norman Park.
— Odum and Offerman.
— Patterson, Pavo and Poulan.
— Quitman.
— Ray City.
— Screven.
— Tallulah Falls and Tunerville.
— Valdosta (Inner Perimeter Road).
— Waresboro, Washington, Waycross, Waynesville, Wesley Chapel and West Green.
The USPS said services at those facilities are suspended until further notice.
