Peabody 35, Lynn Classical 19: After falling behind by two scores early after allowing touchdown passes of 92 and 74 yards, the Tanners (3-1) clamped down defensively and put together 35 unanswered points to get back in the win column.
Senior Caio Santos ran for a career-high 108 yards and a touchdown while junior quarterback Luke Maglione accounted for four total scores, tossing TD passes to Doryln Morel (18 yards) and captain Jayce Jean-Pierre (27 yards) while scooting in for rushing scores of 9- and 45 yards. Peabody had a 15-14 lead by halftime and outscored the Rams 20-0 in the second half; Aneudy Espinal had a key interception.
Bishop Fenwick 42, Wilmington 6: Brayden Clifford threw a pair of touchdown passes and fellow captain Lincoln Dugan scored twice to help the Crusaders remain unbeaten at 3-0 with a romp. Dugan caught a 13-yard pass from Clifford (133 yards passing) and ran for a 39-yard score. Nate Allder also caught a touchdown pass, the first of his career, from Clifford that went for 17 yards.
Odin Garron took an interception 35 yards back for a score to punctuate an excellent defensive effort for Fenwick, while captain Dylan Patturelli (35-yard run) and Craig Masone (2-yard run) also crashed into the end zone.
Marblehead 37, North Andover 6: Showing offensive balance (165 rushing yards/154 passing) and stout defense, the Magicians (2-2) rolled to their second straight win. Quarterback Finn Gallup threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Rylan Golden and later ran for a 21-yard score. Captain Brady Selvais (5), Bernardo Bannis (9) and Yandel Garcia (15) also had touchdown runs for the winners, who got a 17-yard field goal from Finn Bresnahan as well. Cam Quigley added a 46-yard punt return for Marblehead while Julius Galante returned a punt 43 yards.
Wakefield 32, Beverly 21: Senior speedster Ray Kwiatek caught three touchdown passes and finished with five grabs for 121 yards, but it was too little too late for the Panthers (1-3), who fell behind by 24 at halftime and never recovered. Junior captain Danny Pierce threw for a career high 251 yards in the setback.
Winthrop 34, Danvers 7: The Falcons fell behind by 21 points at halftime and could never work their way back into this road contest. Sophomore quarterback Drew Wise capped off a nine-minute drive to begin the second half with a 2-yard TD sneak on fourth down for Danvers (now 1-3), while classmate Jack Houston had a strong game at both wideout and defensive end.
Winchester 36, Masconomet 29: Despite 154 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns from Jack Fabiano, a late touchdown by the visitors gave Masconomet (3-1) its first loss of the season. Cal Weidman caught a 6-yard touchdown pass in the Chieftains’ setback, with Arbri Halilaj scampering 57 yards for another score.
Newburyport 48, Essex Tech 21: The Hawks got blitzed in the first half, falling behind 41-7, and couldn’t dig out of that hole as the Clippers earned their first win in emphatic fashion. Quarterback Jacoby Casinelli-Tarasuik ran for 77 yards and a pair of scores for Essex Tech (1-2), with Makaio Bey returning a kickoff 80 yards for another touchdown.
Melrose 34, Swampscott 27: Touchdowns by Henry Beuttler and Nakeylan Davis in the third quarter put the Big Blue ahead 21-14, but visiting Melrose scored the next three touchdowns to take control. Jon von Barta threw for 206 yards and a pair of scores, finding Jay Domelowicz with a short touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to make it a one score ballgame. Swampscott (2-2) was unable to tie things up on its final drive, however. Liam Keaney was a chain mover all night for the Big Blue with seven grabs for 88 yards.
Lynnfield 42, Ipswich 0: The Tigers were overmatched against the Cape Ann League Baker favorites.
North Reading 35, Hamilton-Wenham 6: The Hornets pulled away late as the Generals remained winless on the season. Junior Caden Schrock ran for 129 yards on 25 carries and Jack Doyle scored his team’s touchdown on a 9-yard run.
