VALDOSTA — The City of Valdosta’s Public Works Department has temporarily suspended all sanitation services in response to the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. The disruption includes residential trash collection, yard waste, and bulk item pickup.
“Hurricane Helene’s severe impact has caused widespread damage across the area, with downed trees, flooding, and debris preventing safe and efficient sanitation operations,” the City said in a press release Friday morning. City officials urge residents to remain patient as crews assess the situation and work toward restoring services.
The City will provide updates regarding the resumption of sanitation services as conditions improve, the press release said. In the meantime, residents are encouraged to secure their waste bins and avoid placing debris on the roadside until services resume.
