A Cumberland County woman who appeared in Criminal Court for arraignment on meth and a boundover charge on Sept. 17 while out of jail on bond was arrested on a host of charges — including meth possession — on Sept. 23.
Addison Paige Woody, 31, Hebbertsburg Rd., is charged in the latest incident with possession of meth with intent, driving while in possession of meth, possession of more than .5 grams of cocaine, possession of a Schedule I drug with intent, tampering with evidence and resisting a stop, arrest or search.
Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputy Steven Richardson wrote in the arrest narrative he was traveling east on I-40 when he observed two vehicles that appeared to be traveling together. The driver of a 2008 Ford Focus appeared to be drifting in the lane of travel, crossing the fog line, and Richardson stopped the car at the 317 exit.
Crossville Police were called to assist in the traffic stop after Richardson observed a white powdery substance “scattered throughout the vehicle.”
Woody was identified as the driver, and it is alleged in the report she refused to exit the car when instructed. Police were forced to break a window to pull the suspect from the locked vehicle. An aggressive dog was secured with the assistance of the second vehicle that had been stopped by THP.
A search of the Ford yielded two torn plastic bags with white crystal substance police believe to be meth. Meth was also found “inside a cookout cup and scattered through the vehicle with visible shards on the back seat.”
Richardson wrote an estimated 37 grans of substance identified as meth was seized. A plastic bag with substance identified as cocaine appeared to have been tampered with. The approximate weight of that substance was 6 grams.
In addition, a substance police believe to be heroin/fentanyl was found in two locations and estimated to weigh 2 grams.
Inside a wallet was found $4,298 in cash and the money and cell phone were seized with search warrant for the cell phone’s content to be sought.
The 2008 Honda Fit, was registered to Woody but the driver, identified as Jodie Wright, 29, of Cherokee Trail, was released after receiving a traffic citation from THP.
Woody was in Criminal Court last week on an unrelated meth charge of possession of more than 26 grams of meth for sale and/or delivery stemming from a Nov. 22, 2022, investigation by CCSO and CPD. She was out on $20,000 bond on that charge.
Bond on the new charges totaled $250,000, and she is awaiting an appearance in General Sessions Court.
