Shane Smith of Danvers could head into 2025 just one step away from the big leagues.
The 24-year-old power right handed pitcher earned a promotion to Triple-A from the Milwaukee Brewers at the end of the 2024 season, his second full summer as a professional.
Smith’s September stint with Triple-A Nashville couldn’t have gone much better. In five appearances, he went 1-0 with a 2.70 earned run average and seven strikeouts against just three walks with a .167 batting average against.
Coupled with his full season in Double-A at Biloxi, Smith had a tremendous summer with a .204 opposing batting average and 113 strikeouts in 87 2/3 innings.
A graduate of Wake Forest University, Smith now heads to the offseason looking to build on his success and chase a spot in Brewers camp next spring.
