The Northwest Whitfield High School competition cheerleading team took first place and grand champion trophies at the Coosa Classic Cheerleading Competition on Saturday.
This marks the first grand champion award for the program.
“They’re going to be unstoppable this season,” head coach Brittany Enloe said. “They work extremely hard on and off the mat.”
The team was judged based on its performance in two main categories — difficulty of routine and execution of routine — along with multiple subcategories.
“To get it ‘right’ takes lots of time, trial and error and practice,” Enloe said.
Enloe said that Northwest’s competition cheer team began practicing in June and practices every day.
“This Saturday was a huge feat,” Enloe said. “I couldn’t be prouder as their coach.”
