In her role as the city of Crossville’s human resources director, Leah Crockett has many tasks.
One of them is improving and overseeing risk management policies for the city, something she’s been committed to for the past nine years.
And she’s done a stellar job: Public Entity Partners honored Crockett in August with an Excellence in Risk Management Award for outstanding achievements and demonstrating an exceptional commitment to risk management and safety in the community.
“Leah conducts walkthroughs of the facilities throughout the year,” explained Mayor RJ Crawford, who presented Crockett with a Certificate of Commendation during September’s monthly City Council meeting.
“She has also created an ADA transition plan for the city, which is a tool to assist in identifying vulnerabilities with buildings, sidewalks, steps, railings, playground equipment, etc.,” Crawford added.
“Due to these efforts, Crossville has realized an extraordinary property loss ratio of 16% over the last five years — which is a huge deal.”
Crockett developed an incident reporting system for written reports on complaints of damaged property. Supervisors are responsible for taking photos of these areas, which are submitted to her for review.
In presenting the certificate of commendation, Crawford made mention of the award Crockett received during Public Entity Partners’ Risk & Insurance Symposium in Franklin, TN.
“Another one of our all-stars recognized,” he said. “Thank you, Leah, for all that you do.”
