Hour-long gatherings where community members may pray, rest their minds and listen to one another. The sessions are sponsored by School Sisters of Notre Dame members in Mankato and North Mankato, together with SSND associates.
The first “Prayer and Listening” session is 7-8 p.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 632 S Broad St. There is no registration requirement. The informal sessions are for anyone would like to participate.

North Mankato sets drop-off dates
The 2024 Fall Drop-Off days for North Mankato residents are slated 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 3-5 and 7 a.m. to noon Oct. 6.
The free service allows residents to discard unwanted items may be discarded at the Public Works Yard, 610 Webster Ave. A paper shredding truck will be on-site starting at 7 a.m. Oct. 5.
A waiting line will be setup along the north side of Webster Avenue. Motorists should approach the waiting line from Lake Street. Posted signs and gate attendants will direct participants to the designated areas for discarding items.
Participants will need to unload items from their vehicles.
There will be no curbside appliance pick-up during this event. Mattresses and box springs will not be accepted at the site.
A free paper shredding service will be offered during the Oct. 5 event. Residents may have up to five boxes of paper shredded.

Hours change for some North Mankato offices
North Mankato City Hall and the Police Annex building have new business hours.
Doors will now be open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
When offices are closed, residents may utilize city services online to make utility bill payments, apply for permits or licenses, reserve a facility or report a concern. These services may be accessed at: northmankato.com.
Fundraiser planned at airport Oct. 9
