NEWBURY — The Newbury Food Pantry is hosting an open house Sunday, Sept. 29, from 1 to 3 p.m., to help celebrate its new addition and thank volunteers and supporters. Enjoy music, refreshments, tours, and education about meeting the growing need for food assistance in the seven communities it serves.
In 2022, the Newbury Food Pantry built a new 2,400-square-foot facility behind First Parish Church, at 20 High Road. Since then the pantry has grown from serving 449 guests per week in 2023 to currently filling grocery orders for over 670 individuals per week. There are mini pantries in seven local schools that it stocks. Most recently, the pantry completed a 750-square-foot addition to help meet the growing needs, according to officials.
