Christian Heritage exploded out of the gates for 21 first-quarter points and kept Gordon Lee at arms length the rest of the way on its way to a 35-20 Region 7-A DI win.
Both teams came in on a three-game win streak after a season-opening loss, but it’s the Lions that continued a streak to four and stayed unbeaten in the region.
Christian Heritage (4-1, 2-0 Region 7-A DI) started the scoring with a 30-yard pass from Carter Triplett to Benji Michmerhuizen. After a Gordon Lee (3-2, 1-1 Region 7-A DI) fumble, Triplett got in for an 11-yard touchdown run to make it 14-0 just over a minute later.
Triplett finished off another quick scoring drive with a 7-yard score to make it 21-0 late in the firs.t
Gordon Lee got on the scoreboard with a touchdown to make it 21-6 early in the second, but Triplett hit Bronx Stallion for a 72-yard catch-and-run touchdown to make it 28-6.
Gordon Lee made it 28-13 at halftime with a long rushing touchdown, then cut it to 28-20 late in the third.
After Gordon Lee had a long touchdown run wiped out by penalty, it was instead Christian Heritage with a capping touchdown in the fourth to make it 35-20.
Triplett had five total touchdowns — three rushing and two passing — and finished with 230 passing yards and 71 rushing yards. Stallion was the leading receiver with 76 yards.
