Dalton Academy earns first win
The Dalton Academy Lady Pumas earned their first win of the season Tuesday, knocking off Georgia School of the Deaf as part of a tri-match.
Dalton Academy defeated GSD in two sets during the tri-match, but fell to Model in two sets.
Dalton Academy beat GSD 25-7 in the first set and 25-19 in the second. Berenice Campos had 10 aces, while Haley Marquez and Seidy Lugo each had four aces.
TDA fell to Model 25-14 and 25-18.
The Lady Pumas play Gordon Central and Rome on Thursday.
Northwest wins two at region tri-match
Northwest Whitfield grabbed a pair of Region 7-3A wins Tuesday, sweeping both Calhoun and Ridgeland 2-0.
Mary Susan Broadrick had 14 kills and six aces for Northwest. Beckley Manning had 10 kills. Megan Torbett had 29 assists and eight aces.
Northwest will be back in action Saturday at Southeast Whitfield as part of Southeast’s Raider Rally.
Creek sweeps tri-match
Coahulla Creek defeated both Rockmart and North Murray during a tri-match at home on Tuesday.
Creek won over Rockmart 2-1, and the Lady Colts beat North Murray 2-0, winning the first set 25-13 and the second 25-23.
North Murray fell 2-1 to Rockmart.
Creek plays Carrollton and Harrison on Thursday, while North Murray plays Union County and Murray County on Tuesday.
Southeast beats Hiram at tri-match
Southeast Whitfield defeated Hiram in three sets and lost to Cartersville in two sets Tuesday.
After Southeast fell in the first set against Hiram 25-23, Southeast won the second 25-14. Southeast took the third 15-11.
Cartersville won the first set 25-17 and the second 25-20 against the Lady Raiders.
On the night, Southeast’s Yaretzi Hernandez had 24 assists and 15 digs. Emily Vargas had 15 kills and six aces, while Ann Grammer had five kills and 4.5 blocks.
Southeast hosts its Raider Rally tournament on Saturday.
Dalton drops two in tri-match
Dalton dropped both legs of a Tuesday tri-match, falling to both Allatoona and Kell.
Dalton fell in three hard-fought sets to Allatoona, earning a 27-25 win in the first but giving up an Allatoona win by the same score in the second. Allatoona won the third 15-11.
Dalton will play Rhea County and East Hamilton on Thursday.
