The Golden Nugget Danville celebrated its first-year anniversary in style on Thursday, marking a significant milestone for both the casino and the community.
The event welcomed more than 140 guests, including local leaders, community members, and prominent speakers who celebrated the positive impact the casino has had on the local economy and community development, according to Jimmy Wilmot, President of Gaming Operations for Wilmorite Management Group, Golden Nugget Danville’s parent company.
Key speakers included Wilmot, Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr. and Rob Gifford, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club. Several aldermen attended the event, as well as Vice Mayor Tricia Teague, and State Rep. Brandun Schweizer.
At the end of the event, Wilmot presented a $1,000,000 check to Williams on behalf of the Golden Nugget and Wilmorite Management Group. The donation, part of the casino’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the Danville community, will be used to fund local municipalities and infrastructure that align with the city’s future growth plans.
“We’re proud to be part of this wonderful community and to celebrate one-year of success at the Golden Nugget Danville,” Wilmot said. “This donation is a testament to our ongoing partnership with the city of Danville, and we’re looking forward to many more years of success and collaboration.”
Williams expressed his gratitude for the casino’s generosity to the community.
“The Golden Nugget has been a game changer for Danville, creating jobs and driving economic growth. This generous donation will help us further improve our city and continue building a bright future for all,” he said.
Gifford, from the Boys and Girls Club of Danville, also shared his appreciation for the casino’s continued support of local organizations. The casino donated $1 million to the Boys and Girls Club of Danville.
The anniversary celebration included a special reception for all guests in attendance, featuring live entertainment, refreshments, and a look back at the Golden Nugget Danville’s first year of achievements.
So far, the casino has donated $3,250,550 to the surrounding area, including $1 million to the City of Danville for infrastructure and municipal development initiatives, as well as another $1 million for riverfront development, according to Hailee Keller, Marketing Director for the Golden Nugget.
The casino has also paid $2.8 million in local gaming taxes as well as $5.6 million in state gaming taxes and $402,000 in sales tax, further contributing to the local economy, according to Wilmot.
Golden Nugget Danville is a premier entertainment destination offering a variety of gaming, dining, and event experiences, according to a news release.
