MOMENCE — Going into Friday’s game, the Westville football team were 0-2 by a total of three points.
After the road game with Momence, they are now 0-3 by a total of four points.
The Tigers held the lead until the fourth quarter, when the Redskins scored and hit the point after touchdown to get a 15-14 win in the Vermilion Valley Conference.
Westville scored first when Jaden Whorrall scored on a 60-yard touchdown run for a 7-0 lead.
Momence had a safety in the first quarter to cut the lead to 7-2 and would take the lead in the second quarter on a Erick Castillo rushing touchdown for an 8-7 advantage at halftime.
In the third quarter, Easton Bolin hit Andre Johnson for a big pass that got them to the Momence two-yard line. Garrett Hatcher would go in from the 1-yard line to get the lead again for the Tigers.
But the Redskins would get the winning score on a touchdown by Marcello Draine and the extra point gave them the lead for good.
Westville will try to regroup next week in the Coal Bucket game against Georgetown-Ridge Farm.
