THOMASVILLE- Dr. MaryFriend Carter presented a program to members of John B. Gordon 383 UDC about the Federal Reserve’s beginnings to the present time. Sheila Tucker, President, showed Carter the book that will be placed in the Roddenbery Memorial Library in Carter’s honor. The name of the book is War Crimes Against Southern Civilians written by Walter Brian Cisco.
This book is about the invasion of the South during the War Between the States, which destroyed over twenty billion dollars of private and public property. This war ended with the deaths of over two million people, mostly civilians.This book includes hard facts about the shelling and burning of cities, destruction of entire communities, mass arrests, and forced expulsions of personal lands. The author discusses atrocities that were held in Georgia, South Carolina, Missouri and Tennessee. The author researched thoroughly for true information to include in this book. Some of his resources included letters, diaries, and newspaper accounts of that time.
