Cioffi to SNHU
Eagle-Tribune All-Star Pinkerton Academy pitcher Michael Cioffi has committed to play college baseball at Southern New Hampshire University.
As a junior last spring, Cioffi compiled a 7-1 record with an 0.78 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 44.2 innings. He was the winning pitcher in the Astros’ Division I title game win, going 5 2/3 shutout innings
SNHU is, of course, where 2024 Pinkerton Academy graduate and Eagle-Tribune MVP Jackson Marshall is going to play college baseball.
Relive the action
For video highlights from Central Catholic football’s Thursday victory over Franklin, and Friday’s highly-anticipated gridiron matchup between Andover High and Pinkerton, visit eagletribune.com.
The Central Catholic video includes all three Raider touchdowns, two from QB Caden Smith and one from running back Caden Chase.
Gaudette to Memorial
Congratulations go out to Windham High head boys and girls varsity track coach and assistant head football coach Lauren Gaudette, who has been hired as the Manchester Memorial head girls varsity basketball coach, she reported on ‘X’ this week. She previously served as the JV coach for the Nashua South boys basketball team.
In her first season coaching the Jaguars track team, she helped Kevin Brooks and Kelly Wright to Meet of Champions titles.
Jaxon fire
Merrimack College QB Ayden Pereira noted his younger brother, Jaxon, is settling in nicely at Bentley University.
The Central grad is one of the top corners in the freshmen class and is traveling with the team on the road.
“He’s long-snapping, and that’s getting him on the bus,” said Ayden. “He’s loving the school. It’s awesome.”
Captains Corner
The high school sports fall season is officially underway, and we at The Eagle-Tribune want to honor the area’s high school captains as part of our Captains Corner series. Coaches — or parents or the athletes themselves — who would like their captains featured are welcome to submit a photo to dwillis@eagletribune.com. Photos should have all captains featured and ideally in uniform.
One Final Thought
As Michael Muldoon used to say, “If you can bring a smile to someone’s face today, just do it!
