MOULTRIE — South Georgia’s version of a hit TV show will take the stage this weekend and next to raise money for a Moultrie charity.
The South Georgia Voice provides local singers a stage to compete in front of a live audience. Semi-finals will be held Saturday and the finals on Sept. 7. Both events will be at Withers Auditorium.
The event is a continuation of sorts following the success of last year’s The Moultrie Voice, which raised money for the Colquitt County Arts Center. It featured performers specifically from Moultrie, according to Rusty Hanna of Legendary Productions, the organizer of both The Moultrie Voice and South Georgia Voice.
This year, the event will raise money for Crossroads for Her, a Moultrie ministry for homeless or recently incarcerated women.
Tickets for each performance are $20, or $35 for both shows. They can be purchased at The Speakeasy on Main, Lazarus department store and the Colquitt Shopper.
Performers expected for the semifinals include Christina Pritchett, Stephanie Moses, Travis Webb, Donna Walker, Montae Wilson Webb, Jenneta Widner, Big Mike Curington, Kristin Bready, Brett Hightower, Al Clayton, Staci DeRosso, Eric Gonzalez, Heather Moore, Matt Key and John Pitts.
