TRAVERSE CITY — Heat and humidity welcomed many Northwestern Michigan College students to their first day of in-person classes Monday.
But, after a week filled with kayaking, bowling, and donuts, it was time for students to start settling into an academic routine.
And, today, they will be able to explore clubs, classes, and campus jobs at the “grand finale” of welcome week — called “Pinepalooza.” This event is intended to help students learn more about campus life and pick up some freebies in the process. (Students are being encouraged to register for the door prize in the tent on Main Campus.)
The NMC campus is expected to be busier this year with fall enrollment up 4.7 percent in contact hours over last year, according to Laura Oblinger, chair of the NMC Board of Trustees.
But official numbers won’t be available until after Sept. 4, which is student “count day.”
