Newfane Central School District has been awarded a $4,000 youth literacy grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.
The foundation on Thursday announced the award of nearly $870,000 in grants to 20 nonprofit organizations, libraries and schools in New York state. Recipients use the money to purchase books, technology, equipment or materials that support new or expanding literacy initiatives for K-12 students.
Schools, libraries and nonprofits operating within a 15-mile radius of a Dollar General store or distribution center may apply for a literacy grant. Applications for the 2025 grant cycle will be available at www.dgliteracy.org in January.
