MANKATO — The Minnesota Department of Education has recognized several local school districts in a list of 78 statewide for their commitment to Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
PBIS is an evidence-based framework for preventing problem behavior, providing instruction and support for positive and prosocial behaviors and supporting the social, emotional and behavioral needs of all students, an MDE news release said.
The practice has been used in Minnesota for two decades.
Mankato East High School, Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Secondary School, Sibley East Elementary, Tri-City United Le Center K-8 and Waterville-Elysian-Morristown’s elementary and middle school were recognized for their dedication to the practice.
The release said this year’s honorees exemplify the dedication and perseverance required to implement and sustain PBIS over time.
