Organizers say a July 25 nutrition literacy and community resources workshop was a success.
Held in collaboration and partnership with the Niagara County Department of Health, Daphany’s Fabulous Objective Weekly Workshops (DFOWW Incorporated) hosted the event at Niagara Falls High School.
Attendees learned risk factors associated with diabetes, early detection methods and lifestyle modifications which can prevent or delay the onset of the disease. In addition, participants learned the benefits of understanding how to read nutrition food labels. The event featured a variety of vendors that provided free resources to the attendees.
Organizers thanked event sponsor Carrabba’s Italian Grill and other co-sponsors including, Bob Evans Restaurant, DiCamillo Bakery, Home Depot, Nike, Papa John’s Pizza, Tim Hortons, and Tops Friendly Markets. Mayor Robert Restaino also addressed the attendees and discussed the importance of nutrition literacy.
