Danville Noon Rotary welcomed guest speaker Mary “Mimi” Skinner, interim director of nursing at Danville Area Community College. Skinner spoke about the DACC Nursing Program’s many layers of accreditation and high passing rates for national exams for licensure.
According to a news release, DACC has an approved ladder program for nursing. Students can work as nurses (LPN’s) while completing an RN education and this program has provided an affordable pathway to a rewarding career in healthcare for so many within the community.
From Second Lieutenant in the Army, to nurse to Clinical Educator at VAIHCS, to Program Director at DACC, Skinner impressed the audience with her vast knowledge and passion for helping students succeed.
Danville Noon Rotary’s next meeting is Monday, Aug. 5, at WorkSource Enterprises, 3713 N. Vermilion St. A legislative update will be provided by Brandun Schweizer, State Representative District 104. The community is invited to attend.
