MANKATO — Repairs to the Highway 14 bridge over Highway 22 are slated to begin Aug. 8, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Motorists in the area of the bridge may encounter traffic delays, especially during peak travel times.
Northbound Highway 22 at Highway 14 will be closed during the construction project. Traffic will be detoured to Highway 14, Blue Earth County Road 12 (589th Ave.) and Blue Earth County Road 26 (227th Street). The highway’s right lane and shoulder across the bridge will be closed to traffic until repairs are completed in early October.
The bridge was damaged by a commercial vehicle in January. Repairs to the bridge will include the replacement of the bridge facia beam, and portions of the bridge rail and deck.
In preparation for the construction project, northbound Highway 22 traffic is being restricted to one lane in a section of highway from Adams Street to North Victory Drive.
