The Oneonta Green Wave won a pair of games last week at the Broome County Hall of Fame Classic in Binghamton. Oneonta defeated Windsor 10-5 on Thursday and Hillcrest 3-0 on Friday.
The Green Wave rallied from an early 2-0 deficit against Windsor as Bruce Mistler had two hits and two RBI, Maddox Imperato had two hits and Aiden Wamsley notched three runs and an RBI. Zach Grygiel added a 2-run single in the sixth inning to finish off the victory.
On the mound, Matt Rigas earned the win by pitching four and a third innings, striking out three and allowing one hit and four walks.
Imperato and Chase Jervis each pitched an inning of relief.
Against Hillcrest, Asa Dugan was dominant on the mound, tossing a one-hit complete game shutout to earn the ‘W’.
Dugan struck out 11 batters while yielding just one walk in addition to the lone base hit.
Oneonta’s offense did enough to support their pitcher. Anthony Falco had two of the team’s three base hits including an RBI single. Good baserunning by the Green Wave and fielding errors by Hillcrest led to the other two runs.
Outlaws fall twice over weekend
The Oneonta Outlaws dropped a pair of games over the weekend, falling to the Utica Blue Sox 2-1 on Friday and 8-2 to the Amsterdam Mohawks on Saturday.
Brendan Connolly plated the team’s lone run in Friday’s loss while Jaden Ross went 2-for-3 at the plate.
Caleb Kempler and Joel Hayner combined for seven strikeouts on the mound while allowing five hits and six walks.
Matt Carrera had the Outlaws’ only two base hits in Saturday’s loss to Amsterdam while Colton Harrison had an RBI.
Six different Oneonta pitchers combined for seven strikeouts, eight hits and four walks allowed. Logan Marquez and Evan Staroba each pitched two scoreless frames.
