2024 SALEM NEWS GIRLS LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
BROOKE LOMASNEY
Peabody Junior
Midfield
Considering the career scoring records she’s already smashed, it’s hard to believe that Brooke Lomasney is only a junior.
A supremely skilled midfielder, Lomasney became Peabody High’s all-time leading scorer in lacrosse (boys or girls) this spring. She needed just 42 games to break the Tanners’ seven-year old girls scoring record of 252 points … and she may well surpass that total in goals alone by the end of 2025 since Lomasney now has 240 goals, 144 assists and 384 points in three seasons on the varsity.
“Brooke is one of the most consistent players I’ve ever seen,” said Tanner coach Michelle Roach. “She has so many tools in her toolbox, from mixing up her angles and speeds with shooting to being one of the best passers and most unselfish players you’ll see in this game.”
An All-Northeastern Conference selection, Lomasney has totaled 100-plus points in three consecutive seasons. Her 152 points this spring led the North Shore and the NEC by a wide margin, as did her 61 assists. With 91 goals, Lomasney ranked second locally and first in her league.
Netting her 7th and tie-breaking goal with ten seconds left against No. 10 Acton-Boxboro was among the many highlight efforts for the captain. She scored seven times in a playoff win over Belmont (Peabody’s first-ever on the road), paced the Tanners to their first NEC title, added ten points in a win over a very good Swampscott squad and also won 62 draws while causing a team-high 18 turnovers.
An Honor Roll student, Lomasney also plays soccer and runs track for the Tanners.
