HUNTINGBURG, Ind. — With a five-run inning in the fifth inning, the Danville Dans was able to beat the Dubois County Bombers 8-2 on Friday at League Stadium.
The game was scoreless in the first two innings, before the Dans started the scoring when Gray Wells scored when Darryl Dilworth II grounded into a double play in the third.
In the fourth, the Bombers would score two runs on a single by Xavier Willis and a wild pitch that brought Willis in for a 2-1 lead.
But in the fifth, Dilworth drove in Jacob Walker on a RBI single, before Sebastian Arguelles drove in Dilworth and Aaron Downs on a single. Then Nate Vargas scored on a fielding error and Arguelles scored on a throwing error.
In the seventh, Stressler and Michael Ryan each had RBI singles to end the scoring.
Gunnar Brown had 10 strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings for the win, while starter Stone Simmons had nine strikeouts in four innings and Jake Murphy got the last out of the game on a strikeouts.
The Dans are 19-14 overall and 3-1 in the second half and will return home to Danville Stadium on Saturday to play the Terre Haute Rex.
