CUMBERLAND — Cumberland’s annual Fourth of July fireworks display will begin at 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Constitution Park.
Leading up to the display, the park pool will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the park closing to the public at 4 p.m.
Pine Avenue will close to traffic at 4 p.m., but local residents will have access to their homes.
In the event of rain, the fireworks display will be held Friday, weather permitting.

Leave it to the pros
The Cumberland Fire Department is urging residents to refrain from purchasing, transporting and using illegal or contraband fireworks.

The penalty in Maryland for the possession with the intent to use illegal fireworks is a fine of $250. The penalty for selling or distributing illegal or contraband fireworks is $1,000. In both instances, violators are subject to have all fireworks found in their possession confiscated as well.
