MINNEAPOLIS — Former Frostburg State swimmer Zach Shattuck qualified for his second Paralympic Games last week.
Shattuck competed in the 2021 Tokyo Paralympics in five events.
His best finish was eighth place in the 200m individual medley.
Shattuck will represent the United States in four events.
At the U.S. Paralympic Trials, Shattuck won the 50M butterfly (34.03) and 100M freestyle (1:13:69).
Shattuck broke the American record in the 50M butterfly.
He finished second in the 100M backstroke (1:24:93), 200 individual medley (2:54:68)
Shattuck spent four seasons on Frostburg’s swim team, despite not competitively swimming before college.
In his freshman season, at the Capital Athletic Conference championships, he set three American records.
He broke the 50 yard freestyle record with a 29.60, then set the 200 yard freestyle low by over 20 seconds (2:30:23).
He set the American record in the 500 yard freestyle at 6:53:90.
The 2024 Paralympics begin on Wednesday, Aug. 28 in Paris, France.
