THOMASVILLE- Thomasville-Thomas County Vice and Narcotics agents have arrested two individuals accused of possession of methamphetamine and trafficking in ecstasy.
According to agents, the investigation spanned nearly two months, focusing on Jaunita Molina.
“Over the course of two months we did a lot of surveillance on Mrs. Molina,” they said. “We’ve had a lot of dealings with her and we got a lot of information that she was moving meth.”
During the investigation, Molina was tracked to the Mitchell County area, along with her partner Jacques Mitchell. Agents said the duo picked up meth on numerous occasions.
On June 25, agents followed her back into the Pelham area, before blocking her in at a red light on North Church Street and Highway 111 in Meigs.
Molina and Mitchell were detained, while Molina’s vehicle was searched.
The search of the vehicle did not return anything. However, methamphetamine was found on Molina, while Mitchell was found to have a firearm in a waistband.
After police found the items, Molina was transported to the Thomas County Jail.
Prior to being transported, agents inspected their vehicle for any contraband and located none. However, after transporting Molina to the jail they found a bag of ecstasy in the back of the patrol vehicle in between the seats.
Agents reviewed footage of the transport and found a video of Molina pulling a bag of ecstasy, totaling 33.5 grams, from her backside and leaving it in the vehicle.
Upon weighing the methamphetamine seized from the search earlier, it was revealed to be 27 grams, which did not rise to the level of trafficking.
However, Molina was charged with ecstasy trafficking and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. She is currently being held without bond, as agents said her case may go federal, depending on her criminal history.
Mitchell was also charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. They have both been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Molina faces an extra charge of theft by receiving stolen property.
“She admitted to giving the gun to Mitchell when she was pulled over,” agents said. “The gun came back as stolen out of Thomas County.”
Agents said they hope their work not only takes drugs off the street of Thomas County but can help Mitchell County in the eradication of methamphetamine in their area.
