AuSable Forks fast-pitch tournament on deck
AUSABLE FORKS — The 62nd Annual AuSable Forks Fast-pitch softball Tournament gets underway at the Billy Mitchell Memorial Field Friday night, July 7, with the annual Hall of Fame introduction ceremonies beginning at 6 p.m.
The ceremonies will be followed by the dedication of the Tournament to Mark and Linda Aubin, followed by the first game of the tournament at approximately 7 p.m., a mathchup between Team Quebec from Donnacona, Quebec City, Canada vs. the local entry of the Au Sable Forks Brewers led by pitcher Andrew Bombard and sluggers Kodi Gordon and Kyle Nolan.
The second game Friday evening, scheduled for 9 p.m., will feature The Axemen from Kingston, Ontario, Canada, vs. Team 518 from Amsterdam , N.Y. The Tournament play will feature some of the best fast-pitch players in the world competing in the 9 team round robin format .
Games will be played all day Saturday, July 13, starting at 9 a.m.. with the use of 2 fields , and Sunday, July 14, games will begin at 9 a.m. with the championship game scheduled for 3 p.m.
For the last several years, the AuSable Forks tournament has served as a qualifier for the ISC (International Softball Congress) world Tournament , with this years winner earning an automatic bid to the World tournament next year, July 26 through August 2, 2025, at a site yet to be determined.
The Dick Crahan Memorial concession stand and the Dave Connell Memorial Beer Stand will be open all weekend. There will be 50/50 raffles all weekend. Also for the 3rd year the softball throw contest will take place.
