The Plateau Creative Arts Center is pleased to feature the art of Eric Buechel and Friends.
Eric Buechel and Friends are the Art Guild’s featured artists for July and will be honored at the Fun and Wine First Friday Reception on Friday, July 5, from 5-7 p.m. at the Plateau Creative Arts Center, 451 Lakeview Dr.
Eric Buechel and Friends is more than an exhibit; it is the result of many years of collaboration between regionally recognized artist Eric Buechel, a member of the Art Guild, and three of his students — Sharon Bush, Pat Schudiske and Jerry Sparks, guest artists and residents of Cumberland County. Buechel has been teaching art in the Crossville area for the majority of the past 18 years in various locations beginning at the Artist Corner, then the Shanks Center, followed by This Old Glove at the Vanity Fair mall, and finally the current location at Buechel’s art studio in Pleasant Hill. Throughout the years, Eric and Friends have been meeting and making art together along with other students to explore various aspects of art and mediums and even enjoying outings to the Frist Art Museum from time to time. This unique group has previously exhibited together at the Arts and Culture Alliance at the Emporium Gallery in Knoxville in November of 2020.
The group exhibit is an opportunity to showcase the result of not only collaboration but the camaraderie and encouragement that only a group of artists can generate and truly understand. Consistently meeting and working side by side over the years has resulted in each artist developing their own style. By working beside and with each other, all these artists have motivated each other to do their very best and to venture outside of their comfort zones.
The artwork of Eric & Friends will be on display along with the members’ gallery artwork exhibit from July 5 to July 30. The Arts Center is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All artwork in the gallery and in the Endless Possibilities Shop is available for purchase.
The June exhibit featuring artwork by Gary Ruetenik in the small gallery and Art Guild members in the large gallery is on display through July 3. The theme for June was Botanical Art. There are many beautiful pieces on display for view and purchase through July 3.
