Bryant Dunaway, attorney general for the 13th Judicial District which includes Cumberland County, has been named president of the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference.
As president, Dunaway is expected to play a crucial role in overseeing operations, strategic direction and policy formulation for the conference and judicial districts across the state.
“I am honored to be selected to this leadership position by my fellow elected district attorneys from across the state of Tennessee,” Dunaway said. “It has been and continues to be my greatest privilege to serve the citizens of the 13th Judicial District as district attorney. I am grateful to be able to serve in this additional role.”
“The president bears the incredible responsibility of guiding the strategies to enhance public safety and serve the people of Tennessee,” Conference Executive Director Steve Crump said. “I look forward to working alongside General Dunaway to protect our great state.”
Dunaway was elected District Attorney for the 13th Judicial District in 2014 and was elected to a second term in 2022. Other counties in the district are DeKalb, Overton, Pickett, Putnam and White.
He is a graduate of the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy, Tennessee Tech University and the Nashville School of Law. Prior to his role as DA, Dunaway was engaged in the private practice of law.
Duanway is actively involved in his community, serving as a member and deacon at Collegeside Church of Christ, a Tennessee firearms instructor and a Rotarian with the Cookeville Rotary Club.
The prosecutor currently serves on the boards of the 13th District Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force and the Upper Cumberland Family Justice Center.
