MANKATO — Two people were taken into custody Friday, one with active warrants and the other a suspect in a home invasion, who was carrying a loaded handgun when Mankato police arrested him.
Shortly before 2 p.m. the Department of Public Safety received a tip from a community member about a suspect, Elizabeth Marie Deberry, who was wanted on active warrants and also believed to be involved in a reported burglary/home invasion with a firearm on May 31.
Officers responded to 602 South Front Street near Walgreens on the tip that Deberry was sitting outside the address. Officers set up in the area when a male then came out of the building to meet Deberry. Officers realized that the male was also a person of interest in the May burglary/home invasion, according to police.
When officers moved in, the male fled on foot. During the short foot pursuit, the male became cornered. He then displayed a loaded handgun and tossed it to the ground when ordered to do so, according to police.
Haysautuh Albert Tyndall, 26, of Mankato was taken into custody. Among the charges being requested: fleeing an officer on foot; felon in possession of a firearm; first degree burglary.
Deberry, 33, of Mankato, was also arrested on her active warrants for first degree burglary, third degree drug possession, among other charges.
