PLATTSBURGH — The two main candidates running for the chance to be the Democratic Party candidate in the City of Plattsburgh mayoral race this year recently sat down with the Press-Republican to discuss their platforms and issues facing the city.
Wendell Hughes, a Clinton County legislator from Area 8, and Daniel Lennon, a local attorney, are facing off in the primary on Tuesday, June 25.
Early voting for the primary begins on Saturday, June 15 and runs until June 23.
In addition to Hughes and Lennon, Iris Cain is running a campaign as a write-in candidate for the Democratic primary for mayor. Cain had tried to get on the November ballot as an independent candidate, but his petitions were invalidated by the Clinton County Board of Elections for failing to properly accept the nomination by the deadline.
The winner of the Democratic primary will face Republican Don Kasprzak, a former city mayor and councilor, in the general election in November.
