The future of the Triton High School girls track program is in excellent hands.
Recently, around a dozen future Vikings traveled down to compete in the Division 2 Middle School State Championship, and to fantastic success. The Triton Middle School girls were crowned champions after finishing with 55 points, beating other talented teams from Hanover (52), Holliston (45), Hopkinton (44.50) and Groton Dunstable (39.50).
And much like the high school program, Triton was excellent in the relays.
Both the 4×400 and 4×800 squads won championships in the event, while the 4×100 placed third. Aaliyah Jackson, Emelia Shkurti, Finley Goodrich and Lily Coco made up the 4×400 (4:30.94), while Shkurti, Fiona Romano, Jersey Giordano and Lulu Towne made up the 4×800 unit (11:13.80). The trio of Goodrich, Jackson and Coco then added Timee Odaise to get the bronze in the 4×100 (55.57).
Individually, Triton of course had a handful of highlights.
Sprinter McKensie Byrnes had an excellent State Meet, racing to second in the 100 (13.12) and third in the 200 (27.98). Addison Ewell was third in the javelin (66-5) while teammate Katie Collins wasnt too far behind in fifth (65-1), and to round out the day, Jackson added a fourth in the 100 hurdles (17.88).
