SEABROOK, N.H. – A Salem man was killed Wednesday night following a motorcycle crash on Ocean Boulevard, according to state and local police.
A preliminary investigation showed that 47-year-old Alfred F. Ferrioli was thrown from his 1984 Harley Davidson motorcycle moments after colliding with a pickup truck in the area of Lawrence Street.
Ferrioli had been traveling south within the left lane of travel on Ocean Boulevard. Upon approaching a cluster of traffic traveling in the same direction, Ferrioli changed lanes to the right and overtook a vehicle before attempting to reenter the left lane of travel in front of the overtaken vehicle, according to state police.
As Ferrioli attempted to reenter the left lane of travel, the motorcycle struck the right rear of a 2017 Toyota Tacoma driven by a Revere man. Following the brief contact, Ferrioli lost control of the motorcycle. The motorcycle departed the right side of the road, traveled through a grassy field, and eventually entered the front yard of a home where the motorcycle struck a raised flowerbed surrounded by concrete pavers.
As a result of the impact, Ferrioli was thrown from the motorcycle and the motorcycle came to rest in a nearby field. The pickup truck sustained minor damage and the driver, immediately stopped at the scene and contacted 911, according to state police.
Ferrioli, the lone rider on the motorcycle, was taken by ambulance to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the pickup truck, along with an additional passenger, were uninjured.
While troopers investigated the scene and emergency personnel removed the vehicles and associated debris, the right southbound lane of Ocean Boulevard was closed for approximately three hours. Multiple agencies assisted members of Troop A at the scene and with the ensuing investigation, including the Seabrook Police Department, the Seabrook Fire Department, the Salisbury, Massachusetts Police Department, the Salem Police Department, the New Hampshire Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and New England Truck Center.
All aspects of the crash remain under further investigation by Trooper Brian Hanna. Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is asked to contact Hanna via email at Brian.D.Hanna@DOS.NH.GOV.
